Why Choose Colorado Center for Photomedicine?

It is important to understand that right now, in the state of Colorado, getting a light based procedure is not as safe as one might think. There are no state requirements for training before being able to operate a laser. This means that anyone of working age can legally operate a laser in Colorado regardless of their background and training. The only requirement the state makes is that a physician must be within 30 minutes of the clinic. Unfortunately, there are no training requirements for physicians either. That means you may have a provider who has undergone little to no training, and the person they will call if something goes wrong may also have little to no training. As dangerous and scary as this may be, it would not be breaking any Colorado laws.

In many cases, providers are lured by the promise of quick money from manufacturers. They purchase a one size fits all piece of equipment and receive a single day of training by an aesthetician or nurse. This lack of training and improper equipment results in ineffective or inappropriate procedures, and is responsible for the skyrocketing amount of burns and scars that have been reported throughout the last five years.

Your skin is a complicated organ. With the staggering array of light sources and treatments available, it is important to find someone you trust for your procedure. Dr. Verebelyi is a nationally recognized authority on laser surgery who trains other doctors all over the United States and Canada. He contributes regularly to the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and he writes much of the test and educational material for their fundamentals course. Dr. Verebelyi performs all resurfacing, vascular and injectable procedures himself. Other treatments are only performed by staff who have attained at least 40 hours of training on each procedure for which they are certified. In addition to this, they must pass both a laser biophysics course and an intensive practical examination presented by Dr. Verebelyi.
