Procedures – Laser Hair Removal Aftercare
Hair Removal Aftercare
Hair removal is a process. Most patients will need anywhere from four to eight treatments that are 4 – 8 weeks apart. The more coarse and dense the hair, the more sessions it will likely take to remove it. You can expect about 90% hair reduction by the end of your treatments. You may see some redness and irritation over the areas treated for a day or two afterwards. Minor crusting or peeling may also occur. Hair that is treated will take about 2-4 weeks to fall out.
Post treatment instructions:
- You may return to your normal activities the same day
- Avoid any irritating medications and chemicals such as Retin-A, Benzoyl peroxide, and Alpha Hydroxy/Glycolic acid containing products.
- No tanning for 48 hours. Do not tan for at least one week prior to your next appointment. To protect the area from sun exposure, use a sunscreen with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide and an SPF of 30 or higher.
- Do not shave area for at least 4 days after treatment
- Mild to moderate post-procedure tenderness may be relieved with: Cool packs applied to area, Tylenol 500mg-1000mg every 6 hours and/or Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) 800mg every 6 hours with food
- Over the counter hydrocortisone cream and Aloe Vera Gel can help with any residual redness or irritation of the skin
- A follow up appointment should be arranged 4-8 weeks after your treatment
